The relations among the participants of the NCFTA can be likened to those in a teaching hospital. A teaching hospital enables collaboration among the best research doctors who are looking to find cures for various diseases. The cures are researched and tested, distributed to other hospitals, and monitored. There is a constant interchange of information and ongoing investigations of the diseases - their prevention, diagnoses, and treatment.

Similarly, the NCFTA assembles a network of experts, who study cybercrime cases in both a treatment and a research modality. Specialists and emerging field experts examine and compile data using investigative and analytical methods. The results of their work and experiences are shared through the NCFTA, and are included in ongoing cybercrime research and investigations.
